Welcome to Aftermath! In this play-by-post, post-apocalyptic RPG, almost all the humans in the world have died out since Y2K happened in the year 2000 AD. Everything was destroyed, save for one: the city of New York, which was protected from the apocalypse because of a recent breakthrough in science that was only developed a mere week before everything was obliterated inside one of the most advanced facilities in the entire world. This Laboratory managed to save the entire city, and even the hope that humans may come back and begin to re-populate the city. Now, the small selection of humans that had been chryogenetically frozen inside are, one by one, waking up from their immortal sleep with no memory of their former lives and incredibly heightened senses to find a half destroyed world awaiting them. The year now is 2099 AY2K, and their lives have just begun.

OOC: First post as Elie xP Let's go for it!
Where am I...?
Elie's eyes slowly opened as she paused to look around the room, as clueless as to where she was as a lost child. Her brown eyes were clouded and unfocused, and she slowly lifted a hand experimentally only to lose her balance and stumble out of her place, falling onto the ground on her hands and knees.
What is this...?
She opened her mouth as to speak, but was puzzled when no sound emerged. Her shaking legs managed to carry her into the air as she stood up, wobbling and too afraid to take a step in fear of falling. She held her hands up into the lights and her lips parted at another attempt at speech.
'...It's quiet...'
She murmured almost inaudibly, but a tinge of excitement hit at the new ability. Turning around, Elie glanced at whatever she had been sleeping in. It looked like a bed, except held up vertically and white, like hospital excitement. She also took in that the walls and countertops of the rest of the room were equally white, and she frowned in annoyance. Was she here to go blind?
Blind... Where had she learned that word? Where had she learned how to think like this at all?
What's my name?
The answer came to her immediately as Elie Cadence, but when she asked how she had gotten here or where she had come from, her mind turned up blank. She couldn't remember anything but basic movement, her vocabulary and her name, and it was frustrating, knowing the questions but not the answers.
Another few shaky steps led her to the door, and her fingers curled around the frame to as half her face was exposed to the long, white hallway. The brown eyes glanced around, looking for signs of other life before stepping out, her footsteps a loud thud against the crushing silence.
Something touched her leg, and Elie was tempted to scream, but settled for leaping backwards six feet to stare hostilely at the newcomer. Where did I learn to jump like that? According to what I think I know, that shouldn't even be possible! She thought in wonder before turning her attention back to the...
Cat? It was a cat, a small silver tabby at that. The blue eyes gazed at her in confusion, and something in her made her kneel down to stroke the cat. A smile finally appeared on Elie's lips when the cat began to purr, and she hummed a song she couldn't name to the beat of it.
A crashing noise was heard, and then someone she didn't recognize flew around the corner in a long white coat, her blonde hair hanging loosely down her back.
'Stripes, you idiot!' She exclaimed, running at the cat and grabbing it up to stare at it angrily, their noses almost touching as the woman panted, fuming.
'How many times have I told you not to drink things I spill on the ground? Next I'm going to wake up and find you purple!'
Elie stared up at the woman in astonishment, blinking rapidly as if she was hallucinating it. For a second she had thought she might be their only person on this strange white world she had come into, but now the blue eyes dared to glance at her in acknowledgment, and the woman slowly released the cat, who turned tail and ran around the corner and out of site.
'Did you just wake up?' She asked Elie impatiently, and Elie nodded, unsure if she should speak or not. The other woman smiled suddenly and offered a hand.
'That's great. I'm Rika Eros, and I run this facility. Follow me- I'll explain on the way.' Elie glanced at her hand before sighing, placing her on top as they worked to pull her off of the ground. Rika began explaining that she had once lived in a world filled with people, but it was destroyed almost completely, and she had apparently 'given herself up to the lab in order to further the research.' Elie nodded, believing the tale after a minute of contemplation and then asked Rika about her past.
'I know nothing about it,' She answered briskly as they arrived in front of a (shockingly) white door, and Rika pulled out a key from he pocket, opening the door and revealing a room identical to the one Elie had woken up in, minus the bed part. A long silver table was also placed in the middle of the room, and Rika instructed her to sit down on it before taking out a white suitcase from behind the doors of a thin cupboard.
She opened it and tested a few things on Elie; her heartbeat, her breathing, her reflexes and took a blood sample. By Rika's uninterested expression, it seemed everything was fine, but Elie tapped the table in anticipation. Rika shot her a thumbs up before walking over, staring down at a piece of paper in her hands.
'Everything is normal, Ms. Cadence...' She told her, and Elie nodded in relief as Rika led her out of the room and two another entrance, this one with double doors.
'You're free to go. You can stay here, but I'm afraid you might get bored. I can now control all of your former home, New York, so I assure you that all power and water systems are working in fine condition. I can't guarantee cleanliness, but you should be able to handle that yourself. And if you have any questions or concerns, you can come back here any time. Oh, and I almost forgot...'
She walked over to where something was covered by a thick black tarp and tore it off to reveal one shiny new black Honda Accord. Elie gasped, running forward and stumbling along the way, her thin fingers reaching out to touch touch it. The surface was perfectly unscratched, and Rika tossed a pair of keys over to her. Elie caught them in her hands without even having to look up.
'...This is yours.'
There was another crash, and Rika cursed out loud before spinning around and running into the lab, waving over her shoulder.
'Goodbye Ms. Cadence, and good luck!'
And then Rika was gone, and Elie was alone again. Well, not entirely alone.
She did have her new car.
OOC: So long!! That's 1031 words! No one elses has to be this long, btw xD

A lifetime of images flashed before Rellik's eyes, images of a forgotten past. Fights Rellik had once been in, his history in the mob, various SWAT missions. He saw clearly the images of a television, and displayed on it were two reporters, and one thing came to mind...
"Y-2-K"
And then...
The images vanished, as if they had never happened. Rellik opened his eyes, at first he was blinded by the light, however his vision quickly acclimated to the unfamiliar white of the room in which he lay. Rellik blinked and looked around.
White, lots o' white
Rellik tried to step forward, however something tripped him. Rellik fell forward, moving his hands just in time to break his fall. Rellik held in a push-up position for a short second before dropping onto his face. His arms had not been used in a long while, they could not hold his bulk and gave way.
"Good lord"said Rellik in a gentle mumble, his voice muffled by the floor.
God, my head, throbbing like... I don't remember drinking anything... I wonder what drinking is? Wait, who am I?
Rellik shifted, moving to his side, resting the back of his head on the not so surprisingly cool white floor. He looked directly into the lights for a few seconds, slowly getting used to the glare.
"Hey anyone there?" asked Rellik to no one, not even bothering to at least look around to check "guess not"
Rellik stood, looking at his surroundings for a few seconds. He was confused by his surroundings, Rellik wasn't quite sure who he was but he was pretty sure this was not the kind of place he was used to. Rellik did not know how long he stood there before he tried to move, but to him it seemed like a long while.
Rellik went to take a step forward, but he was still disoriented, and instead of moving forward he merely put one foot out and fell backwards, smashing his head on the floor this time.
Rellik stood up rapidly, clutching the back of his head "holy crap that hurts!"
Rellik walked around for a few seconds, waiting for the pain to pass. Somehow this thing called pain felt so familiar, and yet so unpleasant, he must avoid this sort of thing in the future.
Suddenly a woman wearing a solid white lab coat burst into the room, looking around wildly for a second before spotting him.
"Two already?" she asked of herself before rushing over to him and gesturing for him to follow her.
"Oh hi. Umm... Question, where am I?" said Rellik, refusing to follow her just yet.
"d**n, I keep forgetting they don't already know!"exclaimed the woman, again to herself, before forcefully moving Rellik along with her.
Rellik opened his mouth to speak, confused by her business-like behavior, but he was cut off before any sound came out "Okay, your Rellik Lazurus" began the woman.
This sounded familiar enough so Rellik choose to keep listening "Well you see there was this virus, and it had some adverse affects on the world-"
"What" interjected Rellik confusedly.
"The world ended. Explained the woman simply, as if this sort of thing happened every day.
"Now we cryogenicly froze a few of the survivors, and your one of them. The city outside still works to some extent, so you don't need to worry too much about that. Anyway-"
Once again Rellik cut her off "wait, what?!"
"boy, if you keep interrupting me I'm going to put you back in the cyro chamber" said the woman annoyed.
This cyro chamber did not sound like a good thing, so Rellik choose to keep his mouth shut. He listened to the rest of her story after she had sat him down and began checking his vitals. Rellik was still confused about everything, but he still didn't want to find out just what a cyro chamber was, so asked no more questions.
"Alright, Rellik, you'll be pleased to know that your just as healthy as when we froze you. Your free to go"said the woman, leaving before Rellik could ask any more questions.
Rellik looked up, and for the first time he saw that he was not alone in the large room.
(OOC: Alright, pretty good. I thought I would be a little rusty at RP but it all came out well enough)

Rika had told her she was free to go, but as far as Elie knew, that meant that she could also wander in the strange white halls as much as she liked. Most of the doors were locked, but Elie decided to continue looking anyway, doing her best to remember the way from where she had first woken up and the outside- she arrived safely in front of the door, opening it timidly, one brown eyes peeking around the corner.
Another person was already in the room alongside Rika, one that Elie didn't recognize, so she took a few soft steps, still unnoticed by either of them. Memories alerted Elie that by the way Rika was dressed, she was a scientist, but she couldn't place the other man in any job she knew in her fuzzy mind besides just another common person like herself.
'Um...' She dared to speak, and was unsurprised when Rika looked up shortly, ackknoledging her presense before turning back to the other person.
'I'd think you'd be off in that new car, Elie.' Rika told her as she began walking towards the door, but the man she had been inspecting seemed to finally take notice of her standing in the room.
'...Yeah,' She said, still a little unsure if the way she was speaking sounded okay. It was like readnig a foreign language out of a book without the pronounciation beside the word, leaving you forced to try and guess how the word should sound and being a little embarassed when it was discovered you'd said it wrong. She felt like she was two all over again.
Two... Why did it feel like that was such a key number? Something began to flash in her memory, of a man, holding hands with a young girl, brown hair, brown eyes... Was that-
It was at that moment that Rika whizzed passed her. grabbing a clipboard on her way out without even sayign goodbye. Elie's eyes widened as she forgot what she had been recalling, and she glanced at the other person. Let's try not to look stupid this time, shall we? She thought to ehrself before crossing ehr arms over her chest and speaking.

Rellik looked at the woman with what he thought was a glare, but it quickly faded. Rellik examined her, a few random words came to him. The first being girl, the second pretty, and others such as: small, shy and lonely.
Rellik had some how summed her up in just a few second, without even knowing if this was true. To Rellik she appeared helpless and somehow seemed lonely, as if she was meant to have someone next to her.
"oh, I believe she told me it was Rellik. Hey, you wouldn't happen to know whats really going on here?" He asked of her his tone now level rather than anxious and confused as it had been before.
Rellik examined the room in greater detail, there was what he thought to be a a car. This seemed to be some way of moving people. Looking at the thing he felt as if he wanted to get inside of it, and one more thing, fast.
Fast? I'm not quite sure I know what it is, but I really want to do it...
With this thought there also came a fleeting memory, a wailing sound as he felt himself being pushed back with a steady force into some sort of foam. Only one image could be seen, a picture of a long flat surface. On the surface were several other of these 'cars' and some of them had bright red things on their tops.
Rellik looked back up, he saw the car, and the girl. He wondered what all of this was.
What is all this, this lonely. This fast? And all of this place, where am I? What am I?

Another room connected to this one led to another car, a silver one, and Elie smiled as she watched Rellik study it longingly.
'I don't know anything else besides what the lady told me,' She told him, jabbing a thumb behind her in the direction Rika had disappeared down. This was actually a lie, since she could still remember most of her vocabulary, and upon glancing at other things in the room, the name of the object would appear in her mind.
'But I'm not sure if I like this lab place. If I do know anything, it's myself, and the things she told me I'd done, willingly giving myself up for their research...'
She smiled.
'...I think I'm a little too selfish for that type of thing.' Another image flashed through her mind, of a dog, but it was gone before she could identify it.
'But you really can't remember anything else either? I thought maybe you might have more of an idea than I do,' She sighed, turning around and making her way out. She paused, turning back half-way and glancing at him.
'We could trash this place in frustration, or we could take the car over there and check out my apparent 'hometown' according to what Rika said... If you're going to follow me, that is.'
It sounded like a question, and Elie hoped he realized this to, despite her odd wording. She was annoyed at the confusion that she was beginning to get used to lying haphazardly in her head, but she certainly didn't want to patrol this new world alone. So she waited for his answer, fingers drumming on the door frame.

Rellik listened as the woman claimed to have no other knowledge of this situation either, much to Rellik's disappointment. Rellik stood, he strode over to the car, and ran his fingers along its hood. Rellik sighed, this was a good a car, but not the one he wanted.
Rellik wasn't quite sure where this sense of purpose was coming from but it was incredibly strong. Rellik felt the memories inside of him, he just couldn't see them. Rellik paused and listened to the girl
"But I'm not sure if I like this lab place. If I do know anything, it's myself, and the things she told me I'd done, willingly giving myself up for their research. I think I'm a little too selfish for that type of thing."
Research, This doesn't seem like research, more like a desperate measure...
And a desperate measure for what, I know the world ended, but from what? Apparently I was frozen or something, so does that mean that time has elapsed since the event?
Besides all of that, why do I keep on getting these flashbacks and all this feeling of needing to be somewhere...
"We could trash this place in frustration, or we could take the car over there and check out my apparent 'hometown' according to what Rika said... If you're going to follow me, that is."
Trash the place, what will that do? Thought Rellik. He examined her a few more seconds thinking things over So this place I need to be obviously isn't here, so obviously I'll find it out there. I don't know if anyone else is out there, so I should probably take her with me...
"Yeah, Elie, I think I'd enjoy exploring the town with you..."
((OOC: Should we continue at this point, or just move the Rp into town?))
